The Wolfhounds were an indie rock band formed in 1985 by Dave Callahan, Paul Clark, Andy Golding, Andy Bolton and Frank Stebbing. They began as a slightly askew pop/rock band, and signed to the Pink label in 1986. First EP Cut The Cake was well enough received for the NME to include them on their C86 compilation.

The Bent Moustache is a band that was started by Ajay Saggar in 2005. Ajay’s previous band DONKEY had been dormant for a year or so, and so he decided to bring his musical adventure back to life under a new name, but with the same spirit and vision that had been an elemental part of Donkey.

Man Diamond has embarked on an instrumental rock crusade of the old American TV themes. Waves of digital keys and laid-back stone grooves, retarded screaming and shouting, forced cadences and a very strong sociopolitical message. Put barbed wire into your left ear and pull it out from your right ear. Enjoy the feeling.

Tickets: TBA.

JOHN PEEL NIGHT Blue Orchids + More Acts TBA
Nambucca, Holloway Road, London. [map]

The Woodentops + Special Guests Blue Orchids + 14 Iced Bears + Sky Between Leaves

After last years triumphant JOHN PEEL NIGHT show at Nambucca we’re delighted to announce another amazing show to celebrate the life and work of this country’s best loved DJ.

The Woodentops need no introduction. One of the UK’s leading bands of the 80′s, indie hit after indie hit, toured with The Smiths, signed to Food and Record Trade Records, recorded many Peel Sessions, collaborated with musicians as diverse as Lee Scratch Perry, Andy Partidge (XTC) and Arthur Baker and are about to release a new album this Autumn.

The Blue Orchids also have a legendary status in UK indie music history. Formed by Martin Bramagh after he quit The Fall, the band released a number of brilliant singles, albums and Peel Sessions in the early 80′s, toured with Nico and Echo & The Bunnymen and established a lasting cult following.

14 Iced Bears were leading lights in the C86 / twee pop scene of the late 80′s / early 90′s. Classic 7″ singles, flexi-discs and an album on Sarah Records, John Peel sessions and a place in the hearts of indie pop fans was secure.

Plus in the spirit of the great man himself we have new young talent SKY BETWEEN LEAVES opening the show and DJs spinning Peel’s favourite records and session tracks all night long.

Tickets: £8.00 in advance.
