This year is a significant one because it will be 10 years since we lost the great man, so for this sad anniversary we should make sure that like all the previous #keepingitpeel days it will be one that commemorates and celebrates the memory of John Peel.
Another significance of this next #keepingitpeel is that it will be the last one that I’ll be co-ordinating.
I’ll still be posting the occasional podcast – and I will especially be making sure that the listings for any live John Peel Day/Night events continues, but the #keepingitpeel day on October 25th, as mentioned will be the final one.
My hope is that the hashtag continues and that the people who listened (which is what #keepingitpeel thing was originally about) will keep posting around the time of October 25th, but I also hope that it merges into any John Peel Day events.
So then I am posting this notice for everyone to start thinking NOW about what YOU are going to do this October.
And that means everybody. If you are a blogger. If you run any music website. If you are in a band. If you are a DJ. If you are a radio show. If you are a promoter. If you are a venue. If you are anything. If you want to do something to commemorate the memory of John Peel this year. Then do something.
This website is here and we’ll try to assist you with any type of promotion. If you need to contact a band to book them for a night, if you are a venue and are looking for an event management company, a promoter or anybody to help you run a night. Get in touch.
If you are a journalist, a broadcaster, a blogger. We’ll provide you with material for your outlet. Get in touch.
If you are wondering what to do and need some inspiration have a look at the last year’s John Peel Day events and at last year’s #keepingitpeel. As you will see there were a multitude of events that happened. From live shows with bands that recorded a John Peel session. As well as new bands showcases. (Very important in keeping with the spirit of Peel). There were DJ nights, there were stage show performances, there were radio shows.
What are you doing ?
Below I will post any village notices for anyone who is looking for a band, or a DJ or a venue. Or anything. Drop me a line and I’ll do my best to help in any way I can.
The #KeepingItPeel Twitter account (@keepingitpeel) has over 5,200 followers. Many of them are bands and radio shows and promoters. We can help you get in contact.

Leaving you with a song…
I haven’t had time to create a new John Peel podcast, so here are a couple via Mixcloud. They are both from a previous #keepingitpeel day on October 25th.
