Classic Festive Fifty

John Peel - Classic Festive Fifty
You remember the Festive Fifty programmes that John Peel used to broadcast every year. They are still going and are now on Dandelion Radio. The next one will be aired on there from Xmas Day onwards.

Here at Keeping It Peel though we are keeping it Peel by compiling a list of songs from Festive 50’s of the past. And all of these tunes were chosen by you.

I posted an appeal on Twitter and Facebook asking for people to submit their favourite song that Peelie played on his Festive Fifty shows. The choices were, you will not be surprised to read, very eclectic.

Below then are the results of your nominations. There was a requisite when compiling them – every track had to be extracted from when John played that particular track on one of his Festive 50 broadcasts. So if you requested something and it hasn’t appeared it means that particular file with the audio was not available, sorry.

Before we get underway with this rundown, may I please draw your attention to three essential places I used in this project. I would have been impossible to complete without them: Rocklist.net – John Peel’s Festive 50’s – and of course the John Peel Wiki – and finally: The Perfumed Garden blog.
